Berlevåg school is thought to be constructed in great respect for the natural environment and the rough nature. The region is exposed to a lot of sunlight during the summer, but the winter is dark and cold. Berlevåg is known for its colorful houses, the school will blend in using this traditional way to construct and design the public spaces.
The school is divided into buildings constructed to the needs and requirements for each level. Each level has its own color and its own entrance. The buildings are organized in a way to create a square. This space is for concerts, social gatherings, and will also work as a school court for the students during times when the weather does not allow them to stay outside without any shelter. Wood covered walls will create a warm atmosphere in a rather rough area. This court can be divided from the rest of the school by big sliding doors.
